From the Desk of Fire Chief Jack Carriger

Stayton Fire District is located at the base of North Santiam Canyon in the foothills of the Cascade Mountain Range fifteen miles east of Salem, the capital of Oregon. The District’s boundaries include the communities of Marion, Elkhorn, Mehama and the City of Stayton with a total population of 14,084.

The District responds to an average of 850 calls for service per year including fires, medicals, motor vehicle collisions, search and rescues, and public assists. Stayton Fire District is a Special Service District funded by a  permanent tax rate and governed by a five-member volunteer Board of Directors elected by the citizens of the District. The District has career staff, volunteer support staff, and volunteer firefighters that respond from 4 stations housing 17 pieces of apparatus and equipment.

Stayton Fire District values all of its members and the teamwork they are committed to as its most valuable resource. With that in mind we recently completed a revision of our Mission Statement and added supporting Value Statements that reflect the standards of both our members and the communities we serve.

We hope that you will continue to visit our site in the future to review the District's progress and to get a better understanding of the quality of individuals that serve Stayton Fire District and the philosophy by which they serve.
