Station 85

The Elkhorn Station is first due to approx 15 square miles within the Stayton Fire District, and 100 square miles of combined State and Federal Lands.

Our primary call volume is traumatic injuries including motor vehicle collisions, falls, and drownings.  In addition, wildland fires and structure fires make up the remainder of our emergency calls.

The nearest ambulance is from Lyons which is 18 miles West, of which the last 14 miles is a two lane county road climbing up the canyon. So for significant time periods we are the Emergency Medical Service (EMS) for any patients. Our "goal" on EMS/Rescue is to have the patient properly packaged, oxygenated, and documented on arrival of the ambulance. While circumstances sometimes prevent this, we feel that meeting this goal will do more for proper patient care, than anything else we can do.
